Project Overview
727 Mass Ave is located in the heart of Central Square, Cambridge, the historic Cambridge Gas Light Building underwent a full façade restoration and elegant lighting upgrade. This effort was led by Chevron Partners in collaboration with the Cambridge Historical Society, ensuring that the building’s architectural legacy was both preserved and enhanced.
One of the key challenges was designing a custom neighborhood map that clearly highlighted the area’s diverse mix of businesses. To address this, I developed a color-coded system to categorize business types, ensuring the map was both informative and easy to navigate. Working closely with our GIS team, we identified and classified each business, then plotted precise coordinate-based pin drops to accurately reflect their real-world locations. The result was a dynamic visual that not only conveyed accurate data but also captured the lively, bustling character of the neighborhood.
Design Strategy
With the client’s brand already embracing a minimalist aesthetic, I extended that vision by weaving Art Deco-inspired lines throughout the brochure. Clean linear elements framed the layout, while a deep navy and white color palette reinforced a sense of timeless sophistication.
Outcome
The client was particularly impressed with the thoughtful design of the neighborhood map and requested the source file for use across additional marketing efforts.
